The agent of Ryan Gravenberch has backtracked on suggestions that the Liverpool midfielder may want to sign for Real Madrid.

Earlier this week, representative Jose Rodriguez claimed that the Spanish giants held a long-standing interest in the midfielder from the age of 16.

That was when Gravenberch was at Ajax, and it has since taken a move to Liverpool from Bayern Munich to kick-start his career after a frustrating stint at the Allianz Arena.

Gravenberch has become a vital cog in Arne Slot's midfield this campaign, starting 40 matches in the Premier League and Champions League.

As such, the 22-year-old's stock has grown at Anfield, theoretically putting him into the thoughts of clubs of the stature of Real Madrid.

How has Gravenberch agent responded?

With those associated with Liverpool understandably not amused by Rodriguez's comments, it had created an unnecessary situation for the player.

One supporter took to social media to comment on one of Rodriguez's Instagram posts, something which instigate a response from the Spaniard.

He said: "I'm Spanish, it's my dream club, not the dream club of Ryan.

"He's really really happy and, if you ask Ryan, he will agree with you [that Liverpool is the biggest club in the world]. No stress. Keep calm."

Rodriguez's words come at a time when Gravenberch is focused on trying to deliver the Premier League title to Anfield, Liverpool currently holding an 11-point advantage over Arsenal in the table.

What is Gravenberch's contract situation?

Gravenberch is only nearing the end of the second year in a contract that runs until 2028, leaving Liverpool in a strong position when it comes to dealing with his future.

While club officials may anticipate interest going forward, they will be confident that nay future negotiations lead to a renewal.

On Friday, Merseyside breathed a sigh of relief as Mohamed Salah finally signed a new contract, reports suggesting that Virgil van Dijk could soon follow in the Egyptian's footsteps.

With Gravenberch now able to look forward to more continuity at Anfield, the expectation is that he will remained settled for at least next season.
