Roy Keane brutally declared the Manchester United team as physically and mentally weak after the 4-1 loss against Newcastle United. Man United suffered an embarrassing loss at St. James Park on Sunday, continuing their poor form in the Premier League.

The Red Devils are 14th in the Premier League, having suffered 14 losses and eight draws with just 10 victories. Man United are gearing up to face Lyon in the second leg of the Europa League quarter-finals at Old Trafford.

United drew the French club 2-2 in the first leg and the tie remains open despite the difference in quality. The Red Devils sacked Erik ten Hag in the middle of the season and appointed Ruben Amorim as their boss.

However, their misery continued under Amorim, who established his different tactical style of play despite the player’s failure to adjust. Amorim cannot allow the situation to become more embarrassing as United are just three points away from the 17th position.

Speaking on Sky Sports Super Sunday (via YouTube), Keane shredded the United squad for their physically and mentally weak performance against Newcastle. He said:

“Newcastle were too fast, too powerful, more determined. The pace they had up front, United couldn’t deal with their attacking players and they got what they deserved. Well done Newcastle, they were outstanding but United… this talk before the game about there are good signs, they’re getting better, well I can’t see it and I just saw another poor performance, particularly in the second half and I worry for this group of players, to me they don’t look like a strong group mentally.”

The former United captain has every right to share his anger which many fans agree with. Playing for a club like United requires a lot more than technical quality as pride is always on the line.

However, the current squad players have continuously displayed a lack of desire and conviction to fight for the badge. Furthermore, many of these players arrived at a high price tag and failing to adjust to new tactics is embarrassing.

Many of these players have consumed a lot of United’s finances which has also put them in a bad position. The Red Devils have to sell several players to raise the transfer budget before they could back the new manager.
