Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani and free agent exec Igli Tare had a positive meeting a couple of days ago and examined a few managers who could replace Sergio Conceiçao. The former Lazio official is keen on taking the job. However, the club needs more time before coming to a decision, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
Their apical director could convene with further candidates, including some outsiders. He’ll continue assessing whether there’s a chance to poach those under contract with other teams.
Furlani and Tare keyed in on three options for the Milan dugout: Massimiliano Allegri, Vincenzo Italiano, and Cesc Fabregas. They have different profiles and levels of experience. The first one would be open to returning under the right circumstances.
The Bologna manager continued to add to his resume this campaign after his time at Fiorentina and in smaller clubs. They’d have to negotiate with the Rossoblù, would wouldn’t be easy. Instead, the Como boss has a large role within the team. He contributes to the transfer market and even owns shares of the club. He’s leaning toward staying to keep cutting his teeth.
If they really liked him, they would have appointed him a month ago. They might still do it because the other directors they covet won’t jump ship, which wouldn’t be a great start to his tenure. As for the manager, they need somebody with clear ideas and who would gel quickly with the squad, preferably with a proactive playing style given the traits of their best players.
