Santiago Gimenez should be available to Sergio Conceicao and Milan for the upcoming Serie A match away against Napoli on Sunday, despite concerns of a potential injury picked up during the March international break.
Gimenez lined up as a starter in both of Mexico’s two Nations League fixtures during the international break. Both resulted in victories (2-0 over Canada and 2-1 over Panama), which crowned Mexico as the 2025 CONCACAF Nations League champions.
Despite his nation’s victory, Gimenez was spotted limping around after full-time, and reports in Italy later claimed that he had been suffering with pain in his ankle.
Updates from La Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday confirm that Gimenez had been struggling with ankle pain, but the issues is not expected to keep him sidelined.
The former Feyenoord striker trained individually for the first part of Milan’s session on Wednesday, but is expected to rejoin the first-team group for full training later in the day, which means that he should be available to face Napoli on Sunday.
