Tijjani Reijnders has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world right now, and AC Milan are seeing history repeat itself impressively.
This season, there has been a noticeable upsurge in Reijnders’ performances, and this comes mainly in the goal column, where the Dutchman has remade himself in the attacking third – he has consistently looked dangerous, and the numbers now add to this.
In fact, as Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News) write, he has now matched a record that Marco van Basten has held for almost 30 years. The midfielder has scored 10 Serie A goals, which was last reached by another Dutchman in van Basten.
The legendary striker hit 10 or more Serie A goals five times for Milan, between 1988 and 1993, a reminder of his greatness. However, the fact that the 26-year-old has now reached this tally shows the level of player that he is.
Growing up, van Basten was one of his ‘idols’, so to get on his level will be a huge thing for Tijji personally, if nothing else. However, you have to say that this will only spur him onto greater things, boosted by confidence.
The best midfielder in Europe, and the newest Tulipi perhaps.
