Italy international Gianluca Scamacca has suffered a new injury and will visit Spanish surgeon Ramon Cugat with the risk of undergoing a new surgery that would force him to the sidelines for two more months.
Scamacca returned to action on Saturday after recovering from a cruciate ligament injury. He was introduced as a substitute from the bench for the final five minutes of a home Serie A match against Torino but suffered a new quadriceps injury.
Gazzetta and Corriere dello Sport claim that Scamacca’s injury is probably quite serious as it also involves the tendon.
Therefore, the Italy international will have a specialist visit in Barcelona with Spanish surgeon Ramon Cugat.
The doctor will determine whether Scamacca needs a new surgery, which would keep him out of action for two more months.
Scamacca joined Atalanta from West Ham in 2023 and has scored 19 goals in 45 appearances with La Dea.
His contract at the Gewiss Stadium runs out in June 2027.
