Germany international and Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah has confirmed that he will be leaving his current club upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the 2024-25 season, which brings the possibility of a free transfer to Serie A clubs Inter and Milan.

Tah, who has 35 international caps to his name with Germany, has told Kicker that he has informed Leverkusen of his decision to leave the club at the end of the current season.

“Everything has been said from the beginning. There was a point in time where I made the decision to not extend my contract and to not stay here. And that is how it will stay now,” the 29-year-old told Kicker in an interview published on Easter Monday.

Inter, Milan and Juventus stance on Tah

Both Inter and Milan are among the clubs interested in snapping up a deal for the experienced centre-back, who has spent the last 10 seasons in the Bundesliga with Leverkusen.

Reports in Italy claimed that Juventus were also exploring the possibility of snapping Tah up in a low-cost deal during the January transfer window.

However, according to reports from Calciomercato.com, all the interested Serie A teams will face stiff competition, most fiercely from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Hansi Flick’s Barcelona.
