Bianca Andreescu confirms her return to the Tour during the clay swing after a series of injuries and nearly six months away from competition. The former US Open champion seemed to be regaining her form in the latter half of 2024, reaching the quarterfinals at the Japan Open.
Andreescu made the quarterfinals after defeating Mei Yamaguchi and benefiting from Beatriz Haddad Maia’s retirement while leading 3-0. However, she then fell to British No. 1 Katie Boulter. Her new tournament will be the WTA 250 Rouan Open, to be held from 14 to 20 April.
The 24-year-old’s latest setback was an emergency appendectomy, which delayed the start of her 2025 season. Andreescu had previously returned in May after a nine-month absence due to a back injury.
Currently ranked world No. 129, the Canadian has no points to defend until the French Open. Since August 2023, she has played just seven tournaments, with injuries continuing to hinder her career. The tournament draw is led by world No. 18 Elina Svitolina and features players like Emma Raducanu (No. 48) and Sofia Kenin (No. 44).
