American tennis icon and former WTA world number three, Sloane Stephens got candid in her recent interview with Elite Daily as she dived into her skin care habits, off-court routines and rituals. Sloane Stephens shared insights into her approach right before her matches.
"I keep it a little bit more simple because I'm feeling nervous or anxious. I do a basic, three-step process, so I feel good, but I don’t have the pressure of lying there for an hour and just messing around," says Stephens.
This streamlined regimen allows her to focus on the essentials, reducing pre-match stress and anxiety.
However, she also shared a bizarre and hilarious routine that she regularly follows as she steps onto the tennis courts. A unique aspect of her preparation involves scent.
"I always shower and douse myself in perfume," she revealed. "I have to smell nice when I go onto the court. I don't know why, because no one can smell me, but it's definitely something I have to do," she added.
This ritual, though seemingly personal, contributes to her sense of readiness and confidence.
Stephens is currently recovering from a foot injury, and has been absent from the tour for over two months. She mentioned that she is currently focusing on manifesting some ‘really good tennis’ and positivity for the remainder of the year. However, she maintained that her focus remains on keeping herself happy and content.
Sloane Stephens has hinted at a French open comeback, in a conversation with compatriot and fellow ATP tennis sensation Ben Shelton. While it would be exciting to see Stephens return to the tour, it remains to be seen if she gets a wild card entry into the Roland Garros.
