Recently released early concept art of Marvel Rivals showed a familiar character to fans. Red Hulk appears in the early concept art for NetEase’s game. The appearance has led fans to speculate on his inclusion in the game. At this stage, he may have been scrapped from the game entirely, something not uncommon during a game’s development. If Red Hulk gets included, how would he feature alongside Bruce Banner’s Hulk?
Red Hulk is the antagonistic counterpart to one of Marvel’s most well-known Heroes. Red Hulk shares many similarities with Hulk, most notably his physical strength. One key point where the two differ is in their transformation. Bruce Banner can return to his human form after becoming the Hulk, but Thaddeus Ross is not so lucky. Once he has transformed into the Red Hulk, he remains in that form for the rest of his existence. Red Hulk recently appeared in Captain America: Brave New World. Hollywood legend Harrison Ford played President Thaddeus Ross.
The early concept art that Red Hulk appeared in featured a character select screen. The character select screen is vastly different from the one in Marvel Rivals. Red Hulk appears as one of the selectable characters on the radial wheel, alongside Doctor Strange, Bruce Banner, Rocket Raccoon, and The Punisher, all characters in Marvel Rivals. Red Hulk, featuring alongside characters in the game, has caused fans to speculate about his appearance in the third-person shooter further down the road.
With Red Hulk’s lack of distinctive features from Hulk, it will be interesting to see if NetEase developers can make him unique. If we see his addition, Red Hulk may skip out on Thadeus Ross entirely, given he can only transform once. However, only one character is confirmed to be added to Marvel Rivals. The Robotic Nemesis of the Avengers, Ultron, is confirmed to follow Emma Frost in Marvel Rivals. He will be taking the Strategist slot. If there is any further news on Red Hulk’s addition or any new Marvel Rivals characters, you can guarantee there will be significant coverage!
