With the absence of guard, Chelsea Gray more of the offense has needed to be operated through Young. In previous seasons, she did not even average four assists per game.
In this year’s campaign, Young’s assist numbers have doubled from previous seasons. Through the first four games, her average has been 7.8 assists per contest. Her numbers place her at third in assists for the entire league.
Evidence of her having a higher impact on the game is shown with her minutes played. Typically, in previous seasons, she has been playing around 32 minutes. So far this season, she has played an average of 36 minutes in comparison.
Young has improved her scoring ability this season to the point that she now averages 22.5 points per game. Only trailing behind four other players in the WNBA, one being her teammate A’Ja Wilson.

On the defensive end, Young has increased her numbers in steals and blocks as well. She now averages 2.3 steals and 0.5 blocks per game.
Her shooting percentages have taken a slight decrease but that is a result of more volume. She has increased her free throw percentage to over 90%.
Young could possibly be in the running for multiple awards by the conclusion of this season.
