Miro has reportedly signed with WWE after he departed from AEW. Miro, also known as Rusev during his tenure in WWE, will return home where it all started. He signed with the WWE in April after struggling to find traction with AEW in 2024. Seeing what his second tenure in WWE has in store for him should be exciting.

Miro Signing

According to multiple reports, Miro signed with WWE on April 2, 2025. He had been confirmed and spotted at the WWE headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. Reports say that he visited with the company for the entire day, which “set the stage for his return.” He was alone, not with his real-life wife and former manager Lana (CJ Perry). Currently, there is no set timetable for his TV return.

His Role

Little information about Miro’s return and how he will fit into the WWE’s current landscape is available. A former TNT champion in AEW, will he immediately be pushed into the main event scene or a high-level mid-carder? It will be interesting because of reports from within WWE about superstars being upset over the lack of TV time. Which was one of the reasons Miro was released from AEW.

Miro or Rusev

He became popular in WWE in 2017 with his Rusev gimmick. Many fans believed he was not appropriately used for the amount of fan love he received. His Rusev gimmick blew up authentically during his first tenure. However, in AEW, Miro was sometimes presented as a dominant mid-carder. Those times didn’t last long for his character. Which will it be, Rusev, whom the WWE fans grew to love and sincerely appreciate, or Miro, a lackluster character in AEW who had a few moments?

Potential Return Dates

There are no specific details about when to expect him back on WWE television. However, with WrestleMania coming up, could he show back up between Friday Night Smackdown, WrestleMania Day 1 or 2, or even the wildest Monday Night Raw of the year? The Raw after WrestleMania. The WWE generally likes to bring back returns over this weekend in various ways, so any of these days would make sense.

Conclusion

Returning as either character, his second WWE tenure should be better capitalized on. A main-event talent, he can return as the dominant big man WWE lacks right now. Asserting him into the main event scene would do wonders for his character. The plan should be to reintroduce him as a dominant heel character. He also brings Lana back as his manager to recapture the Rusev day magic. Potential feuds with Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and Drew McIntyre would explode within the WWE.
