One NJPW star might be on the move if WWE and AEW come knocking at his door.
Last year, a slew of talent made moves across various promotions within the wrestling industry. We saw the likes of Bobby Lashley go from WWE to AEW. Fans also witnessed former AEW star Ethan Page call NXT his new home.
The changes are continuing to happen in early 2025 with the likes of Ricky Starks, now known as Ricky Saints, being granted his AEW release and appearing on WWE TV. NJPW has also seen its share of stars move on to American-based promotions.
Could Kevin Knight be next on that list?
Back in January, it was said that Knight was working for NJPW without a contract, effectively making him a free agent. The report was from Fightful Select, and the outlet has now provided an update.
Knight has now reportedly been in contact with AEW owner Tony Khan and Rocky Romero. He's also stayed in touch with NJPW, so it's possible that the two sides can come to an agreement for a new contract. In addition, Knight has been working shows for both MLW and ROH TV tapings.
Then, there's WWE. It was noted in the report that Knight hopes to explore potential opportunities from the top wrestling company. At this time, it's unknown whether or not WWE has interest in Knight.
Knight won't have to worry about dropping any titles under the NJPW banner if he decides to take his talents elsewhere. Both he and Kushida lost the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship to Ichiban Sweet Boys at Wrestle Kingdom 19 back in January.
NJPW has been Knight's wrestling home for most of his in-ring career. The Atlanta native started his career in 2019 and was part of NJPW's Young Lion system the following year.
Knight began appearing on the promotion's American-based show Strong in 2021. He soon formed the Intergalactic Jett Setters with Kushida. The pair captured the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship twice.
Athlon Sports will keep you posted on what's next for Kevin Knight once more details become available.
