After the incredible match at AEW Revolution between Konosuke Takeshita and Kenny Omega over the AEW International Championship, it was confirmed that there would be an eliminator tournament to crown a new challenger for the champ at AEW Dynasty. "Speedball" Mike Bailey would be confirmed as the "wild card" entrant when he made his entrance to face The Beast Mortos on Dynamite tonight.
In typical fashion for both wrestlers, their match was some spectacular work and would see crowds immediately get behind Bailey in his first AEW match. Bailey picked up the win after hitting a roundhouse kick on Mortos to advance in the tournament.
The last few years of Mike Bailey's career have been pretty great in terms of the achievements he has had. He would have a career in TNA, capturing the X-Division Championship three times , while also having star-making performances against the likes of Josh Alexander, Leon Slater, Mustafa Ali, and more.
He would also play a major role in Deadlock Pro-Wrestling, where he formed the Speedball x Something tag team with Jake Something. The duo would have a near-year-long reign as the DPW World Tag Team Champions.
