The Rock Addresses Not Appearing At WrestleMania 41

All of the chatter after Sunday’s WrestleMania 41 Night 2 event was about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson not being there after injecting himself into the main event storyline at Elimination Chamber in March.

The Rock has openly admitted that he listens to what the fans say as they have all the power, so it is no surprise that he addressed the 500-pound elephant in the room on Tuesday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show. When asked about not showing up to WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, NV, The Rock’s response was more about showcasing John Cena and Cody Rhodes than explaining the involvement of “The Final Boss.”

“We can insert the final boss on this finish, but then where do we go?” said The Rock. “There are other commitments that I have, and I want to be careful that we are not overstepping and leaning over our skis too much here.

“I can get involved in that finish but why get involved when the spotlight should just be on, in my opinion, John…17…heel champion and what does 2025 look like? If this man is going to ruin professional wrestling, that, to me, is the anchoring storyline. By the way, we’ll go back to it. The texts that I got from the guys that I got with one in particular, who I love and is my guy, and I call the superman of the company said, ‘Listen, my soul is for sale when it’s time.’ I said, ‘I love it. Let’s do it.”

One of the other topics The Rock discussed with McAfee was the involvement of Travis Scott. The spot with Scott at WrestleMania didn’t get over as much with the fans, and the reactions on social media have mostly been negative. “I was just as surprised to see Travis Scott as well,” said The Rock. “The moment I saw Travis, that immediately amplified, ‘Well, here comes the Final Boss.’

Well, The Final Boss didn’t appear, and it gave the false hope that The Rock would be following Scott into the ring, but after that didn’t happen, a curtain of disappointment covered Allegiant Stadium, followed by Cena becoming the new undisputed champion. Scott cost Rhodes the title, but the whole sequence wasn’t smooth, which, in hindsight, is what should’ve been expected from a novice wrestling performer like Scott.

Regardless of the fans’ reaction to Scott, The Rock is quite fond of him and feels he can have a role in the WWE. “I love Travis Scott being involved, and I’ll tell you why because he loves wrestling,” said The Rock. “I know he is working his as% off. I know he has plans to train with Booker T. I don’t know if that is happening already. Not quite too sure.”

The Rock went on to discuss a future heel turn for Cody Rhodes, the historic heel turn of Cena, and more throughout his time on The Pat McAfee show.
