This past Sunday, Nikki Bella competed in her first title match at Clash in Paris in over 7 years. Despite pushing Becky Lynch to her limits with the women’s Intercontinental Championship up for grabs, ‘The Man’ stunned the former Divas Champion with a roll-up to retain her gold. But that didn’t bother Bella to the same degree as some of the comments made by Wade Barrett for her.
The SmackDown color commentator has now broken the ice on Bella taking offense to it. In a post on X, the former Intercontinental Champion said he had no idea that Bella felt about it the way she did. Barrett wished she had brought it up when the two of them said hello to each other backstage at Raw, rather than Bella choosing to address the issue publicly via her podcast.
I would love to have a conversation with Wade Barrett. He avoided me on Monday, which was shocking because he always comes up and says hi to me. He tried to avoid making eye contact with me in the hallway.…………

Barrett also disputed a claim made by Bella that he avoided eye contact with her as they passed through the hallway at Raw. The former wrestler said it wasn’t true. But what exactly did Barrett say that set Bella off? During the Clash in Paris countdown show, the real-life Stu Bennett stated that women’s wrestling has completely changed since the era where Bella thrived—the Divas era.
I had no idea Nicole felt this way, and I’m happy to have this ‘conversation’ any time she likes. I wish she’d brought it up when we said hello to each other at Raw, rather than via her podcast. I don’t understand the avoiding claim at all, simply not true. https://t.co/H7lkgKxkp0

While Barrett credited ‘The Fearless One’ for being the top performer in the confines of what she had to work with, he asserted that the current landscape is far superior to what it used to be. The former Nexus member, later called Bella desperate, as she is someone who is trying to restore her past glory and has to prove that she still has what it takes to hang with the current crop of female wrestlers.
Nikki Bella received major backing from Michael Cole in the aforementioned three-way conversation between himself, Wade Barrett, and Big E as they were discussing the former Total Divas host’s bout with Becky Lynch during the Clash in Paris countdown show. Cole interrupted Barrett by joking that he did look his age, while Bella didn’t.
The ‘Voice of WWE’ also underscored the ups and downs she has seen in her personal life, with her recent divorce tormenting her the most. Cole affirmed that Bella was a completely different person than she was years ago. The play-by-play commentator also brought up the interview she gave in June, explaining her decision to return to WWE at this stage of her life.
There’s nothing like my Bella Army!! ❤️ Your love and support gets me through it all!! Fell short tonight but the beauty in that is it’s only the beginning. Felt so great being out there like that again! Love you all so much! And Paris cheers or boos you all are such an…

The San Diego native affirmed that she wanted to do it for herself this time around. And needless to say, Bella is just getting started in this rejuvenated WWE run of hers. In a message of gratitude that she posted after losing at Clash in Paris, the 41-year-old thanked the crowd that was surprisingly against her during the show, with Lynch getting major babyface reactions despite being the heel in that situation.
As noted above, Nikki Bella showed glimpses of brilliance at Clash in Paris while taking on a red-hot Becky Lynch. Speaking on the Nikki & Brie Show, the ‘Beautiful Bomber’ revealed being proud of her performance and everything that she was able to pull off in that women’s IC title bout. She reflected on how she’s now a full-time mother looking after her son Matteo, and he being her biggest priority.
However, despite all of that, Bella took immense pride in herself for the way she handled her in-ring return and was able to prioritize it as well while juggling her outside ventures. The former Barmageddon host also underscored the lack of live events in WWE these days. During her prime, there used to be a ton of those, which made their jobs slightly easier heading into important matches.
I’m so proud of myself. It’s been hard living where I live, hands-on mom, full-time mom, and when I’m mom, I’m single mom. Then, running two companies and having all the things but also making my comeback a priority too but nothing would be a bigger priority than [my child]……….

Moreover, since WWE was in Europe for an entire week, Bella didn’t have the leverage of fine-tuning herself at the performance center. Keeping all those factors in mind, Bella thought she did a fantastic job out there with ‘The Man’. At last, the former Divas Champion revealed that she received a huge round of applause from the people in the back when she reached the gorilla position after the match.
