Details have emerged on pitched "WWE WrestleMania 41" matches that didn't see the light of day.
Another "WrestleMania" weekend is in the books. This year's two-night PLE featured a major storyline twist and a women's title match that many are considering an instant classic. There was also a record-breaking moment at the conclusion of "WrestleMania 41" Sunday when John Cena surpassed Ric Flair by earning his 17th world championship reign.
While WWE settled on two final cards for its biggest weekend of the year, there were multiple ideas the company was mulling over. In a trailer for the "WWE Unreal" series, there was a clip that showed a whiteboard with a slew of pitches for "WrestleMania 41." That scene took place in December, and it shows just how different "The Grandest Stage of Them All" could've been on Saturday and Sunday.
One match idea on the board was a tag team battle between The Wyatt Sicks and The Judgment Day. Injuries seemingly derailed those plans. PW Nexus reported that the match had been discussed prior to the release of the trailer.
A surprising match that had been pitched was a WWE Women's Championship clash between Nia Jax and Jade Cargill. It had also been reported that WWE was considering possibly having Tiffany Stratton cash in her "Money in the Bank" briefcase at "WrestleMania." She ultimately used the briefcase to win the title from Jax on the Jan. 3 episode of "WWE SmackDown."
Another interesting match possibility involved the World Heavyweight Championship. In an alternate universe, fans would've seen Gunther defend his title against CM Punk and Seth Rollins. This would've ruled out the heavily praised ending to night one of "WrestleMania 41," which saw Paul Heyman betray Roman Reigns and Punk in favor of Rollins.
Even music star Bad Bunny was considered for a match against Dominik Mysterio. It ended up being a big "WrestleMania" for Mysterio anyway, as he captured the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
