20 married couples who also played spouses on-screen

You might know Liza Colón-Zayas from The Bear. Colón-Zayas plays Tina, a hard-working cook whose journey to working for the restaurant was shown in a season 3 episode. Tina’s husband was shown, and he was played by Colón-Zaya’s real-life husband, David Zayas. 

Bonnie Bartlett and William Daniels are proof that spouses can successfully mix their professional and personal lives. The two played spouses on St. Elsewhere and on Boy Meets World, with Bartlett appearing on more episodes of the former series. 

When Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher first played on-screen lovers on That ‘70s Show, they weren’t together off-screen, despite Kunis being interested in her co-star. They got together years after the series had ended, and it’s revealed in That ‘90s Show that Jackie and Kelso eventually got married.  

It’s unclear whether Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are together now, but they were most definitely married at some point in time. They’ve also played a married couple. The two played Muhammad Ali and Sonji Roi in the biopic Ali. 

Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas became a couple in real life while they were playing Snow White and Prince Charming, respectively, on Once Upon a Time. They got married and had their first child while filming, and eventually, their characters got married, too. 

Jared Padalecki and Genevieve Cortese have worked together before marriage and during. The two met on the set of Supernatural, and after getting together, Cortese played Padalecki’s wife on the series Walker. 

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos met on the set of All My Children, where their characters also got married. Ripa and Consuelos have been married since the late ‘90s, and now their on-screen relationship has carried over to Live with Kelly and Mark. 

Soap operas are the place to meet spouses, apparently. Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth met on the set of Days of Our Lives. Their characters got married, and so did the two of them. 

Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally are a solid couple off-screen, but on Parks and Recreation, they play the most unstable of all couples. Mullally appears in various episodes as Tammy 2, one of Ron Swanson’s ex-wives. When Ron and Tammy are actively together, it’s a nightmare. 

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie met on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The chemistry they had as married characters proved to be strong enough to create a years-long off-screen marriage. Unfortunately, the real-life couple have since divorced. 

You probably know Hilarie Burton from One Tree Hill, but the actress also appeared on an episode of The Walking Dead. She played the wife of her off-screen husband, Jeffrey Dean Morgan. 

Rachel Weisz has never played a Bond Girl, but she has played her husband’s lover in another project. Weisz and her husband, Daniel Craig, played a married couple in the film Dream House. 

Courteney Cox and David Arquette are no longer married, but they did once play a married couple on-screen. The two played Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley in the Scream series, and their characters were also married for a period of time. 

Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys make a great couple on- and off-screen. The two are married in real life, and they play the married couple Elizabeth and Philip Jennings on the hit series The Americans. 

John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are one of Hollywood’s finest couples. Years after marrying, the two took their relationship to the big screen by playing Lee and Evelyn Abbott in Krasinski’s movies, A Quiet Place and its sequel. 

Kirsten Dunst met Jesse Plemons on the set of Fargo. The two played a married couple on the series, and things went so well together on-screen that they decided to take their relationship off-screen. The couple officially got married years later. 

Sheila Kelley and Richard Schiff played a married couple on The Good Doctor. Things don’t end so well for their characters, but Kelley and Schiff’s marriage has been going strong since the late ‘90s. 

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn aren’t technically married, but they’ve been together so long they might as well be. They’re one of Hollywood’s longest-lasting relationships, and they played an equally iconic couple, Santa and Mrs. Claus, in The Christmas Chronicles. 

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson haven’t acted together much, but they have played husband and wife before. They played Lawrence and Beth Wexler in the film Volunteers, and not long after their time together on set, they started dating in real life. Now, they’ve been married for decades. 

Ben McKenzie and Morena Baccarin were both on The O.C., but they didn’t ever share the screen, so it wasn’t until Gotham that they actually met. The two played Jim Gordon and Lee Thompkins, and their on-screen marriage became an off-screen marriage, too.
