Dodgers Make Announcement on Right-Hander After Bobby Miller News

After optioning starting pitcher Bobby Miller, the Los Angeles Dodgers have recalled right-hander Noah Davis, the team’s official X account announced:

Miller was not given much runway as a starter, making just one start for the Dodgers before going back to Triple-A Oklahoma City. He was smacked around for six earned runs on eight hits, two home runs, and one walk in three innings of work.

This is likely not the end of his journey in the Big Leagues, but with other starting options such as Blake Snell and Tony Gonsolin nearing returns from injury, Miller does not have a defined role on this roster.

Enter Davis.

The soon-to-be 28-year-old from Newport Beach, California, was acquired by Los Angeles from the Boston Red Sox in late March for cash considerations.

He has only pitched in 18 games in his MLB career (all with the Colorado Rockies), going 0-4 with a 7.71 ERA and a 5.65 FIP over 51 and 1/3 innings. He has recorded 43 strikeouts in that time, but nothing from his tenure screams star potential.

Davis’ numbers for Oklahoma City are no better, either. Through five games and five 2/3 innings this season, Davis has a 7.94 ERA and has given up three home runs.

Davis should slide in as a reliever with potential for multiple-inning usage. He does feature a seven-pitch arsenal, which could confuse opposing batters who do not have as much of a scout on him.

However, the Dodgers' bullpen usage has not been too strenuous lately, and unless a starting pitcher is pulled early, do not expect much reliance on Davis.
