Gavin Stone Reflects On ‘Unforgettable’ 2024 Season

The Los Angeles Dodgers enjoyed a memorable 2024 season that ended with them winning the eighth World Series title in franchise history.

The team was led by several players having career years, including Gavin Stone, who emerged as a key contributor in the starting rotation.

The right-hander went 11-5 with a 3.53 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 25 starts. Stone was one of the few constants before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury in late August.

Stone reflected on his 2024 season and is grateful for all that he accomplished.

Stone finished the regular season on the 15-day injured list because of right shoulder inflammation. He maintained hope of returning during the playoffs, but that came to an end when the Dodgers transferred Stone to the 60-day IL on Sept. 24.

The 26-year-old is now looking at a lengthy recovery after undergoing right shoulder surgery on Oct. 9. He joined River Ryan, Emmet Sheehan, Kyle Hurt and Dustin May as young Dodgers pitchers to have surgery last year.

Stone is expected to miss the entire 2025 season, but should be back the following year. Fortunately for the Dodgers, their rotation should be getting some reinforcements with Tony Gonsolin and May expected to return.

L.A. also added Blake Snell in free agency and are the favorites to sign Roki Sasaki. Clayton Kershaw should also be back for his 18th big league season.

Gavin Stone’s career with Dodgers

Stone was selected by the Dodgers in the fifth round of the 2020 MLB Draft. He made his Major League debut in 2023 and took advantage of his first full-time opportunity this year.

In parts of two MLB seasons, Stone owns a 12-6 record with a 4.52 ERA and 1.34 WHIP across 171.1 innings pitched (33 games; 29 starts).
