The New York Mets own baseball's best record at 18-7 thanks to contributions from a variety of players, headlined by star first baseman Pete Alonso. The 30-year-old leads the team with a .341 batting average, six homers, 26 RBI, a .440 OBP, and 31 hits. His 1.122 OPS is third in MLB.
Meanwhile, fellow star Francisco Lindor is slashing .309/.364/.505 with five homers and 14 RBI, and second baseman Luisangel Acuña is slashing .283/.356/.377.
As for pitching, ace Kodai Senga (3-1) has a 0.79 ERA in four starts.
Now, the Mets are getting back two key position players from the IL, the team announced on social media.
"C Francisco Alvarez and INF Jeff McNeil have been reinstated from 10-Day IL," the team said. "INF Brett Baty and C Hayden Senger were optioned to Triple-A Syracuse following Wednesday's game."

C Francisco Alvarez and INF Jeff McNeil have been reinstated from 10-Day IL.
INF Brett Baty and C Hayden Senger were optioned to Triple-A Syracuse following Wednesday's game.
McNeil is a two-time All-Star and former batting champion, while Alvarez has a career .221 average with 37 homers and 111 RBI over three seasons.
Their returns give Mets manager Carlos Mendoza lineup flexibility, as he could deploy either McNeil or Acuña in the outfield or platoon them at second base. Meanwhile, he could also platoon Alvarez with Luis Torrens behind the plate, who's hitting .241 with one homer, eight RBI, and a .675 OPS.
New York will play four games at Washington before hosting the Arizona Diamondbacks for three games. After that, it'll go back on the road to face the St. Louis Cardinals and Diamondbacks again.
