The San Diego Padres have easily been the best team in baseball throughout the first couple weeks of the 2025 season.
Entering play on Tuesday, the Padres have a league-leading 14 wins. Their star player, Fernando Tatis Jr., has been one of the best players so far with a .361 average and six home runs. Also, starting pitcher Michael King has been a dominant force on the mound.
Their manager, Mike Shildt, spoke with reporters and was very adamant what separates them from the rest of MLB.
"“Our play is equaling the crowd, the crowd is equaling our play -- I don’t know which way you want to look at it,” said Shildt. “You’re talking about a Monday night, and this place is jammed and rocking. It means a ton.”
Monday's game was the third-largest crowd in Petco Park history, with 47,078 fans in attendance.

The Padres have played their best games this season at home; they have started the season by winning 11 consecutive home games. That is the franchise record, and the fourth longest streak in MLB history.
After a heartbreaking NLDS loss against their division rival Los Angeles Dodgers last season, the Padres are determined to make a deep run in the playoffs. If they can keep their winning ways going, their fanbase will be treated to a long run of October baseball.
