The Los Angeles Dodgers are undefeated in the 2025 regular season after winning both games of the Tokyo Series in Japan.
Both Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki got the starts for the Dodgers in their home country; the latter became the first MLB player born outside of the US to make his debut in his home country.
But the biggest draw was superstar Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani, who is still rehabbing from his labrum surgery this offseason, was the designated hitter for both games. In Game 2, he hit a home run to the massive cheers of the crowd.
After his historic 2024 season, which he was the first player to have 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in the same season, it is pretty obvious that is currently the best player in the league.
“Like Tiger in his prime… What you’re seeing now is making all-time great players feel small.”

On "The Herd with Colin Cowherd", the aforementioned host had an even larger claim about Ohtani. Cowherd proclaimed "The greatest baseball player ever; yeah, it's not close" when referring to Ohtani.
He continued, "This is the best athlete in America, there is nothing like him. And forget Babe Ruth, there has never been a pro athlete in America like this. We are watching history."
With Ohtani scheduled to return to the mound this season, there is a chance that he can somehow top his 2024 MVP season with even more production for the defending champions.
