Texas Rangers, World Series Trophy Visit Gov. Abbott

The Texas Rangers and their World Series trophy visited Gov. Greg Abbott at the Capitol in Austin on Thursday.

The Rangers contingent, which included majority owner and managing partner Ray Davis, posed with Gov. Abbott holding the trophy after he presented them with a state proclamation celebrating the club's first championship.

Pitcher Jon Gray, minor league infielder Justin Foscue, third-base coach Tony Beasley, and television broadcaster Dave Raymond joined Davis for the visit and photo opportunity with Gov. Abbott.

Abbott signed the proclamation, which congratulated the Rangers on their World Series title on Nov. 1 when they defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks in five games.

The Rangers began their 14-stop Winter Caravan around the state last week, which included stops at an Austin Whataburger and Dell Diamond in Round Rock on Thursday. At each stop, a group of players, coaches, and broadcasters sign autographs and take pictures with fans. The next scheduled stop is from 11-12:30 p.m. Saturday at Riders Field in Frisco.
