Virginia shortstop Griff O'Ferrall was selected 32nd overall by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2024 MLB Draft. While O'Ferrall doesn't have any of the natural tools that might jump off the screen, he maxes out his ability by being a smart player who knows who he is. On defense, he is always in the right position, and his good range and footwork help offset that he might not have the strongest arm. At the plate, while he may not have big power numbers, he is very good at putting bat-on-ball. He hit .324 in 2024 and has had more hits at Virginia than any other three-year player in UVA history. His heady play, hard work, and hustle are the right recipe for Griff O'Ferrall to become an Orioles fan favorite once he hits the big leagues.
