New information has emerged regarding the injury status of Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaylen Wells after his scary fall in Tuesday night’s game.
Wells was discharged from the hospital one day after he was stretchered off the court in a game against the Charlotte Hornets at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C.
However, the rookie appears to have avoided the worst-case scenario. His agent, Aman Dhesi, told Shams Charania of ESPN that Wells suffered a broken wrist.

Wells will miss "an extended period of time" due to the wrist injury but avoided anything more serious than that. Considering how bad the fall looked, that has to be considered a win for him.
The initial signs for Wells were positive after he was taken to the hospital. Both he and his father provided positive updates on his status late Tuesday, though he was pretty banged up.
Wells has been a standout rookie for Memphis this season. Despite his status as a second-round pick, he has become a full-time starter and is averaging 10.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game on the season.

The Golden State Warriors may have to try to win a playoff game or two without the services of Jimmy Butler. Shams Charania of ESPN reported on Thursday on the extent of the Warriors star’s injury. Butler has been diagnosed with a deep glute muscle contusion, and his status for Game 3 against the Houston Rockets on Saturday night is said to be in “serious jeopardy.” However, Charania adds that the diagnosis for Butler is a “best case” scenario. This is because an MRI revealed that Butler avoided a fracture or any other kind of structural damage. The six-time All-Star Butler was injured during the Warriors’ Game 2 loss to the Rockets on Wednesday. He was going up for a defensive rebound when he got undercut by Houston’s Amen Thompson and crashed hard to the floor as a result, landing on his tailbone (video here). Butler’s injury occurred in the first quarter, and he did not return to the game, in which Golden State ultimately fell, 109-94. Butler was acquired by Golden State in a blockbuster trade this past February. The Warriors were a sub-.500 team before Butler debuted, but his arrival completely jumpstarted the team, and they went a scorching 23-8 to close out the regular season to finish at 48-34 overall. Golden State took care of business on the road by winning Game 1 against Houston to secure homecourt advantage in the first-round playoff series. But now that it is playing at home for the next two games, the Warriors may be down their two-way talisman in Butler.
There are very few teams in the NFL that have had a recent run of success at the quarterback position quite like the Green Bay Packers. After acquiring now Pro Football Hall of Famer Brett Favre via trade from the Atlanta Falcons in 1992, Green Bay has enjoyed over 30 years of exceptional play at the position. Favre, of course, was the Packers starting quarterback for 15 seasons, led the team to victory in Super Bowl XXXI and became the first player in NFL history to win the MVP Award three times. He was succeeded by Aaron Rodgers, who many argue was an even greater quarterback. Rodgers, though now a polarizing figure in the NFL, won four NFL MVP Awards, has set numerous NFL passing records and is a future Pro Football Hall of Famer himself. Now, Jordan Love is Green Bay’s starter under center, and Favre believes that his former team is going to experience a great deal of success as he continues the legacy of stellar quarterback play in Green Bay. Favre believes the Packers are in good hands with Love While Favre himself was not a huge fan of Rodgers being drafted to be his successor, it appears that he has taken a liking to Love, who was drafted to succeed Rodgers. After the two collaborated at a recent signing event, the three-time NFL MVP posted on X (formerly Twitter). While Love played through injuries in 2024, the former Packers quarterback has good reason to believe that he can continue to long legacy of the team’s stellar quarterback play. Just look how Love fared compared to his two predecessors in their first seasons as Green Bay’s starting quarterback: Of course, Love has a long way to go until he can be considered a Hall of Fame quarterback, and perhaps he will not get there. That being said, Green Bay and its former players certainly seem to think the team has a great one under center right now.
The Pittsburgh Steelers made a trade with the Seattle Seahawks early in 2025 to obtain wide receiver DK Metcalf. However, Pittsburgh surrendered their second-round draft pick in the current NFL draft that is in process as of this writing. The Steelers have been the focus of most football conversations this offseason and leading up to the draft with nearly everyone talking about the draft expected the Steelers to use their first-round pick which was the 21st overall in selecting a new quarterback. That didn’t happen. Instead of picking Shedeur Sanders as many expected the Steelers to choose, they instead went with a team need and drafted Derrick Harmon, Sanders’ teammate in 2024. Originally a defensive tackle at Michigan State University, Harmon switched schools in 2024 and transferred to the University of Oregon. In 16 games as a Spartan, Harmon made 24 tackles with 47 assisted tackles. He made three sacks in those three seasons at Michigan State with a forced fumble. Did the Steelers make a smart selection with the 21st pick and not choose what might be a bigger need at quarterback? Absolutely. They say defense wins games and with Cameron Heyward in the twilight of his career Harmon represents the future for the defensive line in Pittsburgh. Given his performance at Colorado last season this was a wise choice. In 2024 Harmon played in all 14 games and had 27 solo tackles to go with 18 assists and five sacks to boot. More impressive was his 11 tackles for a loss. Harmon also defended four passes, made two fumble recoveries and forced two fumbles. Pittsburgh does not have a second-round pick as of this writing, so the quarterback situation remains. Aaron Rodgers is still uncommitted to his future, and he continues to leave the Steelers hanging although the decision is squarely on the shoulders of Pittsburgh’s front office. They could easily tell Rodgers to take a walk and there is a buzz about working a trade with Atlanta to bring Kirk Cousins to the ‘Burgh. That is an option that is far more appealing to me than bringing the drama queen Rodgers in to wear Black and Gold. Pittsburgh’s run defense became porous in the five-game losing streak that ended their 2024 season so having Derrick Harmon in the fold now makes all the sense in the world. For now, Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson are the quarterbacks on the roster and as much as I respect Rudolph and believe he is a decent QB he does not have the tools to become a Super Bowl winning quarterback. The search goes on for QB1.
After dropping their fifth straight game to fall to 12-13 on the season, the Toronto Blue Jays have now found themselves in third place in a loaded American League East division. While their pitching staff has been great, their offense has gone historically cold, resulting in just five runs in their previous four games. And as if that wasn't bad enough for Toronto, they will now have to play a three-game series against AL East-leading New York Yankees on the road. And it seems like the 15-10 Yankees will have some reinforcements added to their lineup, specifically one of their biggest contributors this season. In an official announcement on Thursday via their public relations account on X, the Yankees revealed that left-handed outfielder Trent Grisham was reactivated after spending time on the paternity list. "Today, the Yankees reinstated OF Trent Grisham (#12) from the paternity list," the team announced. Grisham was acquired by New York from the Padres as part of the 2023 Juan Soto Trade. As a Yankee, Grisham is slashing .218/.312/.454 for a .766 OPS. Those numbers have been boosted by his red-hot to begin this season. In 20 games this season, Grisham's OPS is 1.093 and his OPS+ is 210. He is currently tied for second on the Yankees with six homers and had driven in the fourth-most runs on the team with 13. He will be reinstated in a Yankees lineup against a struggling division rival in the Toronto Blue Jays, who have lost five straight games.
