Broncos WR DaeSean Hamilton suffers torn ACL?

Stories surfaced on Thursday that the Denver Broncos planned to release wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton after no team made any realistic bid for the 26-year-old either before or during this year's draft. However, the Broncos reportedly received trade calls for the 2018 draft selection at some point after Thursday's news broke and, thus, did not announce any official transaction ahead of the weekend.

All plans have now gone out the window, as NFL Network's Taylor Bisciotti (h/t Grant Gordon) reported Friday that Hamilton suffered a torn ACL.

Per NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, Denver was on the cusp of finalizing a trade that would have been completed at some point after this weekend's rookie minicamp sessions. Assuming Bisciotti's report is accurate, Hamilton likely won't play before the 2022 campaign.

The Broncos deemed Hamilton surplus to requirements this offseason due to an abundance of options at the position coupled with his lackluster play over his three NFL years. In 46 of a potential 48 games with Denver, he accumulated 81 receptions for 833 yards and five touchdowns.
