Browns Double Down on Myles Garrett No Trade Stance

After star defender Myles Garrett publicly informed the Cleveland Browns he was ready to be traded to "a contender" this offseason, the team politely declined.

That hasn't stopped rumors and speculation as to where Garrett might play in 2025, but all the while, it might be Cleveland.

Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Browns continue to offer a hard. pass on possible trades.

"The stance is still hard no. I checked on that this morning," Fowler said on Thursday afternoon's episode of SportsCenter. "They have no plans to trade him. That's been their sentiment since he made the trade request a few weeks ago.

"Teams are going to try, but I was actually told that not a lot of teams have inquired so far, in part because they know the answer is 'no' right now."

After six Pro Bowl seasons in Cleveland and a 2023 AP Defensive Player of the Year award, on Feb. 3, Garrett issued a statement requesting a trade due to his "desire to win and compete on the biggest stages."

There should be several teams with interest, but Browns general manager Andrew Berry reportedly isn't listening. He told Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com last month that he would even turn down two first-round draft picks.

"I think you can assume that we do anticipate at some point doing a third contract with Myles," Berry told Cabot. "We want him to retire here.”

Sports Illustrated speculated that any package for Garrett would start with two first-round picks, but it seems like that doesn't interest Berry and the Browns, who are determined to keep Garrett in town.

Garrett has not commented on what would happen if Cleveland fails to even pursue a trade, but there is one option: Retirement.

While it's extreme, that might be an option if the former Texas A&M Aggies star decides he'd rather not play at all than play in Cleveland.
