The Kansas City Chiefs may not have ended the season as they hoped, but they are still among the best teams in the National Football League. Even as one of the best teams in the league, the Chiefs have plenty of positions of need this offseason after a tough Super Bowl loss.

Kansas City's needs were fully displayed in the Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs must return to the drawing board to fix those issues. They have been unable to make many significant moves in free agency, but they could do well in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Mark Stolte of the Pro Football Network listed one free agent that every team in the league should consider this summer. Stolte believes the Chiefs should consider strong safety Jordan Poyer.

Kansas City is very familiar with Stolte's selection. The veteran defensive back last played for the Chiefs' rival, the Buffalo Bills.

"With Justin Reid gone and the offensive line being the likely target early in the draft, the Kansas City Chiefs are in need of a veteran safety presence to help keep this defense afloat next season. In years past, Jordan Poyer would have been way too expensive for the Chiefs. With his current state of play and the many injuries, they could take a risk on him for pennies on the dollar," Stolte said.

"Even at 33 years old, Poyer still managed a respectable 70 tackles and only 24 receptions allowed. He ranked about average in coverage but above average in run defense last season, which should help balance out the Chiefs’ defense, who is already much better against the run."

Kansas City must do what it can to make the rest of the offseason a success. They will essentially retain the same players from last season's roster. With that being the case, the Chiefs must secure a solid draft haul this offseason to ensure they can stay at the top of the league.

The Chiefs hope to have a productive draft that will help them sustain their winning ways for many years to come. However, for that to happen, Kansas City must find a way to add multiple starters and high-quality contributors to its roster in the draft.
