The Tahoe Knight Monsters have announced that they’ve signed defenseman Linden Alger to an ECHL contract. He was placed on reserve after signing with the Knight Monsters. If Alger plays in a game with Tahoe, he will be the 22nd different defenseman that the Knight Monsters have used this season. The 6’3, 194lb defenseman will look to make his pro debut this weekend when Tahoe hosts the Wichita Thunder in their final two regular season games. It will be interesting to see what kind of impact he’s able to make on Head Coach Alex Loh to try and earn his spot on the Knight Monsters roster.

Linden Alger, 25, spent the last five seasons at UMass Amherst playing in 104 games, putting up six goals and nine assists for 15 points. The Centerville, Massachusetts native spent last season as the captain of the Minutemen, where he had a career year with three goals and seven assists for 10 points in 40 games. He would win back-to-back Hockey East Titles with UMass. Prior to joining the Mintuemen, he spent one season in the USHL with the Youngstown Phantoms, where he put up two goals and four assists for six points in 48 games.

His Father, Rich Alger, played three seasons in the NCAA, which included a year with UMass and two seasons with Boston University, where he had three goals and 14 assists for 17 points in 56 games. He won two Hockey East Championships during his NCAA career. Rich has spent the last six seasons as a scout with the Washington Capitals.
