The Pittsburgh Penguins face the Washington Capitals Saturday at PPG Paints Arena in just another in a long line of nationally televised games between the lions of the Metro Division. The Penguins got some good news, too.
Captain Sidney Crosby is healthy enough to play Saturday. Crosby is dealing with an arm injury, perhaps his elbow or wrist, suffered two games before the Four Nations Face-Off break. Crosby was caught in an awkward collision with New Jersey Devils Erik Haula and Luke Hughes.
He was clearly not 100% in the Four Nations tournament, registering just three shots in four games despite noticing five points (1-4-5) and playing well.
However, with good news comes some short-term bad news. Bryan Rust remains on injured reserve. He was set to play but came down with an illness Friday night. So, the Penguins kept him on IR.
Update: Emil Bemstrom was re-assigned to the WBS Penguins.
As a matter of note, the Penguins officially activated Evgeni Malkin from IR.
