MLB The Show 25 has received a largely positive reception since it released on March 14. The hitting is considered smooth, and most fans are enjoying the more fleshed-out and detailed modes the game has offered. Except for a lacking storyline mode, every other mode is viewed as either the same or improved on from before. Road to the Show and Diamond Dynasty were especially well received. Overall, the game made tweaks to improve without reinventing the wheel. That said, with a game that simulates a real MLB season, patches are inevitable, and the 8th game update was released on Monday.

As MLB The Show 25 continues to try and match the current baseball season in real time, additional patches and updates will be released to reflect that. On top of that, the game has been plagued by bugs that can hamper performance, and the team is constantly working on fixes. With eight updates in just a month of being launched, it is clear the development team is listening to fans and working out the kinks as fast as possible.

The game patch is applicable on all three consoles: Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. The first update is an aesthetic one. Coming to MLB The Show 25 are the new Colorado Rockies city connect jerseys. Another minor appearance change in the game updated the Seattle Mariners’ uniforms to match the current on-field sleeve patch they wear in real life. These two uniform changes align with the current happenings in Major League Baseball.

The other three fixes in the MLB The Show 25 Patch 8 are all related to bugs in the game. From the official The Show Website:

Road to the Show:
Fixed an issue where the score bug could be empty when a catcher is at-bat.

Franchise and March to October:
Fixed an issue with amateur draft prospect rankings where organization rankings could diverge from MLB rankings even if no scouting had occurred.

Miscellaneous:
Fixed a bug where captions could disappear before Bob Kendrick is finished talking in Storylines.

Each of these minor fixes should help players and fans improve their overall experience. It is more accurate to real life, and also ensures the fixing of several bugs in different game modes. Fans should continue to report any issues so that they can be patched and fixed.

Final Thoughts

MLB The Show 25 is a fantastic entry to one of the more iconic and successful sports gaming franchises overall. Patches will continue to be released throughout the season, but the overall product is highly enjoyable and well-improved from previous seasons. Any bugs should be reported to the team, who will work on a fix, but otherwise, each mode offers a thoroughly enjoyable experience for players and should continue to do so throughout the season.
