Setting your Pals to work at your base is essential for gathering plenty of resources and making sure you’re kitted to take on the toughest bosses out in the world and catch ‘em all collect all of the Pals. However, you can’t be some heartless enforcer, you need to take care of your Pal’s needs, in particular, their Sanity meter.

A Pal with low Sanity has a higher chance of getting injured and may simply refuse to do work altogether, so we’ll tell you how to keep your Pals in high spirits so they’ll work all the live long day.

Have enough beds

Everyone needs somewhere to sleep at night, and if you don’t have enough beds for all the Pals working in your base then they’ll lose sanity and become stressed a lot quicker. Pal beds are extremely cheap to craft and don’t have to be placed indoors like your bed, so there’s no excuse to not have enough.

Feed them high-quality food

Berries are easy to farm and will keep your Pal’s well fed, but as you grow your base consider feeding them higher-tier foods like bread, eggs, or meat, as these will give a much bigger boost to a Pal’s mood whenever they eat.

Build hot springs

Pals will regularly take breaks when working to improve their mood, but you can make the boost given by breaks even better by providing some hot springs for them to use whenever they want. Going there while on a break will restore a Pal’s sanity much more than taking a regular break.

Have medicine ready to go

If your Pals do develop an injury then it will take a while to heal, and some injuries like Fractures don’t clear on their own. Once you’re able to craft a medicine bench you can put together various remedies that will instantly heal certain ailments and having a few of each on hand will keep things running smoothly. You can find out more about medicine in our guide on how to heal Pals’ injuries in Palworld.

Switch them out occasionally

If a Pal’s sanity is getting seriously low, then it’s worth taking them off the hook for a while. Not only do you run a greater risk of them sustaining an injury, but they’ll regularly refuse to work if they have really low sanity. At that point, switching them out with a Pal in your Palbox is the best solution as their sanity will slowly recover over time. This is why it’s a good idea to catch multiple of every type of Pal, so you can switch them in and out without disrupting your productivity.
