Less than a month later and after some apparently tense negotiations that included a profanity-laced tweet from Reed, the two sides have announced that they will not be able to come to an agreement to ratify Reed's contract.
Reed is going to be the head coach for the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Located in Daytona Beach, Florida, Bethune-Cookman is a notable HBCU program that had won eight MEAC championships since 1971 before joining the SWAC in 2021.
Bethune-Cookman, which is set to move to the Southwestern Athletic Conference next season, is currently on lockdown after more than 15 students tested positive for COVID-19 last week.
