One ex WVU baseball star drove in another during the St. Louis Cardinals’ spring training game against the Houston Astros on Sunday afternoon. One of them crushed his first homer in a Cardinals uniform, too.

Former Mountaineer Victor Scott II sent JJ Wetherholt home in the bottom of the fourth inning to get St. Louis on the scoreboard first 2-0.

An inning later, Wetherholt, who led the Palm Beach Cardinals, St. Louis’ Single-A affiliate, to a Florida State League title, smashed his first home run of spring training. Wetherholt’s homer was a three-run bomb and gave the WVU alumni five combined RBI on the day at the time.

Unfortunately for the Mountaineers and Cardinals, the Astros’ offense showed up as well and put up 11 runs through seven innings to win the game.
