Playing for the High-A West Michigan Whitecaps over the weekend, Detroit Tigers top prospect Max Clark hit his first home run of the season on Sunday. Clark, 20, was the first-round pick of the Tigers in 2023 out of the Indiana High School ranks.
The left-hander has good stuff but needs a big year to keep him on a starter’s path in 2025. The big names playing with the Lakeland Flying Tigers in 2024 were Max Clark, Kevin McGonigle, and Josue Briceño, but quite a lot of other talented players started to make a name for themselves as well.
The speedy and gregarious center fielder had a strong pro debut and looks primed for a big season as he moves to Double-A in 2025. When the Tigers drafted Max Clark with the third overall pick in 2023, the decision sent Tigers fans into turmoil.

Almost a year to the date, Max Clark was selected third overall in the 2023 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers. As a surprising pick to some, Clark came directly out of Franklin Community High School in Indiana.
