Short told SiriusXM he felt it was "respectful" of Carolina to release him so early in the process so he could test the free-agency market before the new NFL year opens next month.
Carolina Panthers defensive tackle Kawann Short missed the bulk of his team's last 32 regular-season games because of injury setbacks. On Tuesday, the Panthers released the two-time Pro Bowler.
It's yet another brutal early-season exit for Short, who missed the final 14 games of the 2019 campaign after he went down with a partially torn rotator cuff during a Week 2 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
