ELMONT, N.Y. — The New York Islanders (25-24-7) dropped a third straight game on Sunday night. The game didn’t come without its fair share of drama, though.
The New York Islanders practiced again on Wednesday afternoon in East Meadow. Head coach Patrick Roy focused the day on flow drills, with players constantly moving to get their legs under them.
Maple Leafs sophomore Matthew Knies showed that he has his teammates' backs on Thursday, when he took exception to a play in which Casey Cizikas laid a questionable hit on Chris Tanev.
Casey Cizikas posted his first two-goal game in more than three years Saturday night, leading the New York Islanders to a 6-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins in the opener of a back-to-back, home-and-home set in Elmont, N.Y.
There are just over 24 hours until the NHL Draft, and NHL trade rumors are flying, but actual trades and news are hard to come by. The New York Islanders, as always, have a shroud of silence encompassing the team and its potential moves.
The New York Islanders’ roller coaster of a season had plenty of highs and more than enough lows. They had plenty of games go to overtime, 26 to be exact, and multiple games where they had comfortable leads in the third period, only to fall apart and end up on the losing end.
Although Casey Cizikas is still listed on the New York Islanders long-term injured reserve list, it may not be for much longer. Cizikas wore a white, full-contact jersey at Islanders practice Wednesday morning at Northwell Health Ice Center and was back between Matt Martin and Cal Clutterbuck as the team took line rushes.
The New York Islanders are facing a multitude of injuries and a tight cap. Because of that, they’ve moved forward Casey Cizikas (lower-body) and defenseman Robert Bortuzzo (lower-body) to long-term injured reserve.
Also: Casey Cizikas heads to IR, as the Isles recall Kyle MacLean. “Well It’s brave for us to stay Even braver to go Wherever she goes I go Maybe things will be better in Chicago” I totally get it if Tom Waits is not your thing, if “WTF is that voice?” or “You’re telling me that’s an instrument?” etc.
The move with Cizikas is retroactive to Jan. 9, meaning that he can return anytime he is healthy enough to do so. He is currently listed as week-to-week with a lower-body injury so he may be out until closer to the All-Star break.
