The current state of the NFL offseason seems to be defined by the ongoing Aaron Rodgers free agency saga. Rodgers is one of the most captivating personalities in the league for a multitude of reasons.
Now that the 41-year-old is a free agent, the entire league is watching as his personality is on full display.
In free agency, there were only really ever three potential suitors for Rodgers. The Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers, and New York Giants all showed interest in the veteran, but the sweepstakes is likely just the Steelers at this point.
The Vikings reportedly made the decision to roll with J.J. McCarthy at quarterback instead of opting to sign Rodgers. The Giants signed Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson to fill out their quarterback room.
That means Rodgers is headed to the Steelers, right? Well, there's still another catch that's becoming a real possibility. Rodgers could retire.
NFL insider Adam Schefter recently reported that he's hearing that Rodgers "might not want to play" anymore.
While there's always been a chance that Rodgers could retire, it hasn't seemed like a real possibility to this point. He's known what his options were for quite some time now. If he was going to retire, there was no reason to drag his free agency out other than to keep the spotlight on himself.
Still, Rodgers to the Steelers seems to make the most sense. Pittsburgh seems to be banking on him signing with the team. This saga could come to an end in the near future with Rodgers left to choose between the Steelers and retirement.

The Green Bay Packers are going to be a very interesting team to watch leading up to the 2025 NFL draft. Brian Gutekunst has been relatively quiet during NFL free agency, making just two high-profile moves. Those two moves were the signings of offensive lineman Aaron Banks and cornerback Nate Hobbs. Both players will fill valuable roles for the Packers. However, there are still many questions that need to be answered in Green Bay. Jordan Love could use more help offensively. More offensive depth would be wise and another playmaker at the wide receiver would be beneficial as well. A new report has come out about the Packers' draft interests that would be great news for Love if it became reality. According to a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Green Bay is set to visit with Ohio State Buckeyes' offensive lineman Josh Simmons. Schefter also reported that Simmons will meet with the Baltimore Ravens as well. Simmons is one of the best offensive tackle prospects in the 2025 draft class. Being able to land him at No. 23 would be a great pickup for the Packers. During the 2024 college football season with Ohio State, Simmons did go down with a torn ACL. That could be a concern for some teams, although Green Bay will not need to force him onto the field early. Luke Easterling of Athlon Sports broke down Simmons' game in his scouting report of the Buckeyes' standout. It's the kind of scouting report that will excite the Packers' fan base about the potential of landing him in the draft. "Simmons is the total package from a physical standpoint, and has the kind of polished technique that should allow him to start right away in the NFL," Easterling wrote. "His injury and recovery could have an impact on where he lands, but at full strength, he looked like a top-15 talent earlier in the season. Any team looking for an instant starter at either tackle spot could still bank on him returning to that caliber of play, and still take him in that range." Green Bay simply looking into adding more protection for Love, especially a prospect with elite upside like Simmons, is great news for the young franchise quarterback.
Following Tuesday's stunning removal of head coach Michael Malone and general manager Calvin Booth, the Denver Nuggets are on the road Wednesday to face the Sacramento Kings with interim coach David Adelman overseeing the final three games of their regular season. A four-game losing streak dropped Denver (47-32) into a six-team tangle of Western Conference teams vying to either land home-court advantage in the upcoming playoffs or avoid the play-in round. The Nuggets began their earth-shattering Tuesday 1 1/2 games behind the third-place Los Angeles Lakers, pending the Lakers' matchup with NBA-leading Oklahoma City. Denver sat a half-game ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers, Golden State, Minnesota and Memphis. Denver is the second team in the West's playoff muddle to fire its coach down the stretch. Memphis, one of the Nuggets' final two regular-season opponents, relieved Taylor Jenkins of his duties March 28. Malone's dismissal comes just two years removed from Denver appearing in and winning its only NBA Finals. His 471 wins with the Nuggets are the most in franchise history. Adelman, a Nuggets assistant since 2017, is taking on his first head-coaching duties since leading Lincoln High School in Portland, Ore., to a city championship in 2011. "This decision was not made lightly and was evaluated very carefully," Josh Kroenke, vice chairman of Kroenke Sports and Entertainment, said in a statement. "We do it only with the intention of giving our group the best chance at competing for the 2025 NBA Championship and delivering another title to Denver." The pursuit of playoff positioning down the stretch already faced uncertainty for the Nuggets, with Jamal Murray sidelined until at least the start of the playoffs with a hamstring injury. Denver was without Murray for all four losses in its ongoing skid. Christian Braun scored 30 points in a 125-120 loss to Indiana on Sunday. Braun stressed his role in the Nuggets finding their footing to avoid the play-in. "The locker room knows," Braun said. "It's on me to make sure we're ready before we run out, that we're ready when we step on the court, and that throughout the game, somebody's got to be talking to them." Amid the team's turmoil, center Nikola Jokic is pursuing the fourth Most Valuable Player award of his career, which would match LeBron James and Wilt Chamberlain. Jokic is also on pace to join Oscar Robertson and current Denver teammate Russell Westbrook as the only players to average a triple-double in a season. Jokic is posting 30.0 points, 12.8 rebounds and 10.2 assists per game following a recent stretch that includes a 61-point, 10-rebound, 10-assist effort vs. Minnesota; and 41 points, 15 rebounds and 13 assists vs. Indiana. Sacramento (39-40) looks to contain Jokic and continue Denver's disarray Wednesday, while also aiming to solidify its place in the play-in. The Kings lead Dallas by a game for ninth place through Monday after they rallied in the second half to beat the playoff-bound Detroit Pistons, 127-117. The comeback from a 10-point halftime deficit gave the Kings a 3-3 finish to their final road trip of the season, all three wins coming in a row. Zach LaVine heads into Wednesday's game having scored 80 combined points over the Kings' last two, including a season-high 43 against Detroit. "When he gets a heater going, it's a different type of heater," Sacramento coach Doug Christie said of LaVine. "You just want him to touch the ball every time." When the Kings last saw the Nuggets on Jan. 23, Sacramento had not yet acquired LaVine. The three-team deal in February that sent De'Aaron Fox to San Antonio and brought LaVine in from Chicago, reuniting him in the backcourt with DeMar DeRozan. DeRozan is coming off a 37-point performance on Monday. Sacramento faces its own backcourt uncertainty after losing Malik Monk early in the win at Detroit. Monk's availability for Wednesday after sustaining the calf injury is uncertain as of Tuesday afternoon.
Nathan Aspinall has claimed the top spot on the European Tour Order of Merit, leapfrogging teenage sensation Luke Littler following the International Darts Open this past weekend. Littler did not feature in Riesa, opening the door for 'The Asp' to make his second Euro Tour final appearance of the season. Aspinall, who won the International Darts Open just last month, produced another impressive run in Riesa but fell short in the final, denied back-to-back Euro Tour titles by Stephen Bunting. The former World Matchplay champion was beaten 8-5 as Bunting clinched his maiden European Tour crown. Bunting enjoyed a stellar campaign en route to the title, registering victories over Darius Labanauskas (6-4), Cameron Menzies (6-4), Karel Sedlacek (6-2), Luke Humphries (7-6), and finally Aspinall. Following his triumph, Bunting now sits second on the Order of Merit, trailing leader Aspinall by £6,000. Littler, who skipped the last two Euro Tours after winning the Belgian Darts Open, has slipped to third. Ross Smith and Mike De Decker share fourth place with £18,500 each, while Martin Schindler holds sixth spot with £16,000 after reaching the semi-finals in Riesa. The current top ten is rounded out by Gerwyn Price, Luke Humphries, Dave Chisnall, and Ryan Joyce. Michael van Gerwen who like Littler missed this weekend rounds out the top 16 currently. At the end of the season, the top 32 players on the PDC European Tour Order of Merit will qualify for the European Championship, scheduled to take place from 23–26 October in Dortmund. The Los Angeles Lakers picked up their most famous win of the season on Sunday when they blew the OKC Thunder out 126-99 on the road. The Thunder got a chance to exact their revenge tonight, which they did by defeating the Lakers 136-120. The game was evenly poised for most of the evening and was a one-point game in the fourth quarter, However, that's when the referees decided to eject Luka Doncic for trash-talking a fan. This led to the Lakers falling to a 20-point deficit before losing the game by 16. Fans believe this moment ruined the game and ensured OKC would take the win. Fans are furious at how this game ended. "Potential game of the year, and the referee threw Luka out of the game for talking to a fan. I wonder why ratings are dead," said one very angry fan. "That fan in OKC who just got Luka ejected deserves at least a 5th place MVP vote. Got the ref to think Luka’s venom was directed at him. 10/10 bait," said Rob Perez about how the fan who Doncic was talking to deserves the credit for the win. "Game was over as soon as Luka got ejected," said another despondent Lakers fan. "OKC can’t beat the Lakers with Luka. Refs screwed the Lakers," said a fan looking at the bright side from this, which is the Lakers competitiveness against OKC all season. "Bad Luka ejection. Refs have main character syndrome. Ruined a good game," said a Celtics fan who was still upset at how the game ended. "I just watched Draymond elbow a dude in the face in front of an official and stay in the game. Luka getting thrown out for that is total BS," said one angry fan who thinks there's an officiating double standard when it comes to Luka. It would've been really exciting to see this game enter clutch time to see who can seal the win. Unfortunately, Doncic's ejection just guaranteed the Lakers can't find the offensive production needed to keep OKC at bay. Up until the ejection, it was quite a wonderful game which would've come down to the wire. LeBron James led the Lakers with 28 points (8-19 FG) and seven rebounds. Austin Reaves had 24 points (6-12 FG) with five rebounds and five assists, while Doncic tallied 23 points (7-15 FG) and five assists before his ejection. Dorian Finney-Smith was the only other Lakers to score in double digits with 12 points (4-8 FG). The Thunder had Shai Gilgeous-Alexander lead all scorers in the game with 42 points (14-26 FG), alongside six rebounds and six assists, while co-star Jalen Williams put up 26 points (11-21 FG). Lu Dort had an impressive 17 points (6-11 FG), while Chet Holmgren had 14 points (5-12 FG) and two blocks.
