Welcome to Ask Dubey! I’m very excited to launch this new show on Oilersnation. If you’re unfamiliar, I’m Devan Dubnyk. I played 12 years in the NHL with the Edmonton Oilers, Nashville Predators, Arizona Coyotes, Minnesota Wild, San Jose Sharks, and Colorado Avalanche.
Stop me if you’ve heard this line before — There are goaltending concerns in Edmonton. The Oilers have a 37-23-4 record on the season, good for second in the Pacific Division.
The issue of goaltending for the Edmonton Oilers has been a focal point for fans throughout the season and has only gotten louder after a rough weekend for the team.
Before the emergence of Stuart Skinner, goaltending was always a hot-button topic among Oilers fans. Depending on who you ask, it might still be. But a blast from the past is always good for perspective.
On this day in 2014, the Edmonton Oilers acquired forward Matt Hendricks from the Nashville Predators in exchange for goaltender Devan Dubnyk. The trade for the Oilers meant a bit of change for the organization, at least in the eyes of Oilers general manager Craig MacTavish.
Put your spring wardrobe on hold and throw on that hockey sweater, because the Stanley Cup Playoffs are finally here. It took up until the very end of the weekend to know exactly who was in and what the match-ups would be.
